Musings
My writing space. A blog, if you will, on what I learn from the school of life.
A smile always makes a difference. It affects how you greet the day, interact with people, or carry out your tasks.
Try smiling at everything the day brings, especially at the messy parts, and even exclaim ‘How fascinating!' as author Benjamin Zander suggests in The Art of Possibility. It takes a little effort to smile, but the effect is lasting and contagious. Genuine and heartfelt smiles are likely to follow, as a smile begets a smile. Stay inspired. Keep inspiring. P.S. Inspired by James Clear’s “The person who smiles is more likely to keep working than the person gritting their teeth.” In some hurtful moments, when all we want is to cry, there is a moment of relief. And if we are lucky to have a loving person next to us, they can ease the pain with the simplest of jokes. And there it is—the smile is back, even if only for a moment. It works.
It may be a mechanism of the body, reminding us that we have already crossed to the other side. That we are stronger, changed, and will smile once again. Or it may be the effect of those who love us, who sit in the mud with us and occasionally make a splash, attempting to cheer us up. Let go for the smile to return. Stay inspired. Keep inspiring. |
