My writing space. A blog, if you will, on what I learn from the school of life.
When children start understanding their environment at an early age, they want to do more of what they see people around them doing – to be accepted and to feel helpful. It is part of our human nature to assist, improve, and be there for others.
But, along the way, in school and later at work, we learn to hold back and hide. The system overwrites what naturally comes to us because it wants everything we've got and gives little in return. We can break out of this spell by finding a deeper reason to contribute. A connection that would give us the same childhood happiness as when we gave without holding back. Stay inspired. Keep inspiring. As a grown-up, I wish that I got different lessons as a kid. That my parents and teachers brought up focus on more things in life that would have served me now.
I am sure that later in life I would think the same. But this time I'd be judging my younger self - me today, for not doing certain things that the benefit of hindsight would afford me. The best way to avoid that is to do the deathbed exercise, which I recently learned about from Dr. Sahar Yousef and Lucas Miller. It is as simple as you imagine. You take time to turn inward to identify your “ultimate whys”. Those most important goals you want to drive you forward, as seen from the other end of life. What would you cherish the most if you could go to the end and look backward? And the hard part. Once you identify these whys, make them a true priority in your life. Stay inspired. Keep inspiring. |
