Musings
My writing space. A blog, if you will, on what I learn from the school of life.
I am good at my job, until I sit in front of the computer. Then I become a worker obsessed with the spec.
Maintaining empathy and a sense of care becomes challenging during the process. Both resistance and ingrained expectations come into play. And I revert back to the same old patterns, quickly forgetting all my good intentions for change. Self-awareness and taking it one step at a time are the strategies I am hoping will work. So that I can become the best at my job, but mostly so that I grow into the professional I aspire to be. Stay inspired. Keep inspiring. If you find yourself in a position to do good for people, choose to do it for them, not for the money. Don't do it for the money. Money you can make in other ways too, where you won't have to interrupt.
But if you are fortunate enough to hold a position of transformation, give it your all for the benefit of others. Stay inspired. Keep inspiring My position and title cannot tell my story, and yet people want to put them front and centre. That's, at best, a tenth of who I am.
Be clear that it is your choice to classify me and all the others into boxes, but there's a lot more that you choose not to know. Instead, start by asking how we feel in our current place in life. You may be surprised by the depth of the reply. Caution! Only ask if you truly care to know. Stay inspired. Keep inspiring. The sexy job ads make you see yourself wearing the crown of that title, you get excited, and the dance begins.
A process of bending truths on both sides. The CVs get a boost to match overhyped descriptions. Unfortunately, the first real conversation often happens after the contract. The real position is revealed, as well as the real skills that the new hire possesses. Imagine if we did that in our love lives. Showing up in glam until the wedding only to reveal the real person under the make-up after the special day. How would that story evolve? It could have a good end, but there would be some tough conversations along the way. I wish for a world where both sides could be honest so that realistic jobs can be fulfilled by the right people. Without any pretence, just with sincerity and passion. Stay inspired. Keep inspiring. |
