Good bosses

11/6/2024

‘How would I show up if I was the world's best boss?’ That was on my mind, as a result of  completing the altMBA again.

I've reviewed the program before, highlighting its ability to open your eyes to all the possibilities out there, while equipping you with the tools to grab those.

This is what I would prioritise for my team, if I was given the title of the ‘world's best boss’:
  • Health - make sure each member of my team prioritizes their physical and mental health and overall wellbeing. No need to explain why, I’m sure.
  • Rest - rest is an important part of the creative process, so if I want my team to perform well, I will insist they rest well too.
  • Celebrate the milestones - I personally am terrible at celebrating. So what better way to learn how to do that but in the company of some good people that fought to win side by side.
  • Leap (more than once) - the first time you leap into the unknown is both scary and exhilarating. Doing it often is the way to strengthen that muscle.
  • Keep on learning - we never know enough and falling in love with the quest to understanding more is important for any team and team member.
  • Cherish being a beginner - this directly ties to learning and leaping - these processes would make you a beginner over and over again - I'd want my team to embrace it.

But it is not only what I would do to make sure my team felt good and performed strongly. Showing up entails modeling the behaviour too, so I would start with myself. And what better time than the present?

Beautiful People

11/2/2024

These are usually the strong people who love life and enjoy being part of this crazy journey. They allow life to stream through them and paint them with its colours.

Even when a difficult moment darkens their palette, their strength continues to shine through. And that shine is what illuminates the darkness once again.

And that light, in turn, makes them the most beautiful people you'd ever know, cloaked in the most vibrant energy there is.

A Puppy's Wisdom: 5 Life Lessons from My Furry New Friend

19/11/2023

After losing our beloved beagle boy Kai this summer, we decided to get a puppy to help heal the gaping wound left behind.

In the past few weeks, our little pup, Junior, has taught me several valuable lessons:
  1. Over-communicate: Life revolves around the conversations you have. Sometimes, what seems clear to you may not be understood by others. Try again, slower, better accommodating the other’s perspective. The results will soon follow, and a beautiful "side effect" is the trust you build along the way.
  2. Be patient: Many life experiences teach us patience, but nothing reminds you to be more patient like a young child or a puppy. Apply this patience in other aspects of your life as well.
  3. Let go of control: While some control over an animal is necessary, there are many things you simply can't control. Embracing this can set you free and help you accept what happens around you more readily.
  4. Accept change: Welcoming a dog, especially a puppy, into your home after having a senior dog is a significant change. Embrace this beautiful transition instead of clinging to the past. Accept things as they are now, and enjoy that, as this is what you called for with your decision.
  5. Be grateful for the journey: The entire journey, even the challenging parts, is beautiful. Remind yourself of this gift and fully enjoy it.

Playful Approach

30/10/2023

What if everything were a game? What if we decided to play along with everyone else, regardless of the outcomes? And what if, despite our initial struggles, we fell in love with the game and it led us to something we never imagined we'd enjoy?

Games are fun. So, treat what you do as a game or as a contribution worth your time and effort.

Finding Energy

29/10/2023

There are days when you need an extra boost to match the energy the day demands. If your heart is full, savor that coffee lift. And recall what filled your heart to begin with. Cherish it. Love it. Give it your all.

Weaving Time

28/10/2023

It's easier said than done to leave the past behind and live in the present, especially when cherished memories linger. Sometimes, these memories sustain us, nourishing our souls in the present and enabling us to forge ahead.

The past and present are deeply intertwined. Yet, just as progressing forward is natural, so should be our capacity to weave in the future.

Welcoming the Additional Stops

27/10/2023

Before reaching your final destination, expect some additional stops. They might simply offer a moment to slow down and observe. These pauses provide an ideal opportunity to course-correct or take a breath.

Instead of feeling irritated, embrace the change of pace.

The Balance of Now and Next

26/10/2023

Focusing on the present is challenging when planning or preparing for the future. However, preparation is half the task of readiness.

It's another catch in life - to pause and live in the moment, or to juggle both and find happiness at every stage, knowing everything is perfect as it stands.

Universal Connection

25/10/2023

Foreign landscapes can feel like home when you connect with your surroundings. When you accept them as a natural part of you, because you belong to this world and all it encompasses.

Whether foreign or familiar, it's all part of our one and only home.

The Brave Type

24/10/2023

When you encounter your limits, do you bravely charge forward or take a step back?

Asking for a friend...

If you're the brave type, what do you tell yourself before diving into the unknown? Before experiencing something unprecedented in your life story.

It must feel amazing to be brave. How would the rest of us know...

Stay inspired. Keep inspiring.
