My writing space. A blog, if you will, on what I learn from the school of life.
When the rain is pouring outside and all you can think about is how romantic the sound is, it means you are privileged to have a roof over your head. Appreciate that perspective. Acknowledge that you are able to live a comfortable life while others may not even have that.
And if you find yourself looking at the rain from under a roof or even from beneath an umbrella, let's at least offer the rest of the world a smile and a thank-you. This energy can serve as a reminder to someone else of the blessings they have in their own lives. Stay inspired. Keep inspiring. The scariest exam becomes manageable with good preparation, as does any professional presentation. Even something as mundane as preparing for the weather outside can make a difference in how we feel and present ourselves.
While preparation is crucial for top performance, it should not be our sole reliance. There are times when letting go and embracing spontaneity is the right choice. It is in those moments that new ideas are born and creativity flourishes. Such situations can be unnerving. When we find ourselves stuck in a rut, one of the best ways to invoke the magic of creativity is to add a curious "hmm." Watch how the situation changes at that very moment. Stay inspired. The same can be said for certain company leaders...
But what about our own rules? Do we adhere to them or do we find ourselves breaking them with feeble excuses? The only rule to breaking rules should be to make things better as a result. Next time you think of breaking your own rule, ask yourself how are you improving things. Stay inspired. Keep inspiring. It makes sense that athletes are fit - it is their job to be in the best possible shape.
But so is the job of anybody else who wants a rich and fulfilling life. A life powered by the strength of the 600 hearts of their muscles. Unleash the potential of those hearts that yearn to beat for you. Stay inspired. Keep inspiring. My dad fixed cars for a living. He became a mechanic because he had a knack for it and had a particularly good understanding of the electronics in cars.
He used to say, "The more electronics there are in a car, the easier it becomes for thieves to overwhelm the system and steal it." Now, I'm starting to wonder if that rule applies to humans too. Stay inspired. Keep inspiring. If you find yourself in a position to do good for people, choose to do it for them, not for the money. Don't do it for the money. Money you can make in other ways too, where you won't have to interrupt.
But if you are fortunate enough to hold a position of transformation, give it your all for the benefit of others. Stay inspired. Keep inspiring Have you ever pondered the question of why an average song is about three minutes long?
According to everyone's best friend, ChatGPT, there are historical and practical reasons that solidified this timing. It was the preferred song length in the early days of radio broadcasting. Simultaneously, vinyl records had a physical limitation of around 20 minutes of music, so shorter songs allowed for more tracks on a single record. Similarly, we now adapt what is considered long in one medium to another, where the length is perceived differently. A seven-minute article may seem too long to read, but it becomes the perfect short podcast episode. It all comes back to us and how we think of our time. When and where are we willing to trade and prioritize those same few minutes? After all, it is the same few minutes we will give anyway. Stay inspired. Keep inspiring. In a world where everyone seems to value authenticity, let's remember that it can be a trap. Those who want to know us in an authentic way are likely to be our friends and family. But at work, the request is different.
We are expected to show our interpretation of professionalism. It is understood that our expression may differ, and that is acceptable as long as we do not deviate too far from the norms. Once our version is deemed within the limits of the system, it is often labelled as authentic. A version of professional authenticity is showing up without makeup and a hairdo (for women), or coming to the office in jeans and a t-shirt for a CEO. Professional authenticity does not allow showing up in a foul mood or speaking our truth, as one might do with friends and family. Let's stop asking people to be their authentic selves when we don't actually want that. Instead, let us encourage professional authenticity, and both sides will benefit. Stay inspired. Keep inspiring. Popular writers and critics often make the comment that some books shouldn't have been written.
In a similar way, we acknowledge that some inventions should have never seen the light of day. So how do we determine if our idea is worth pursuing? We need to scrutinize its contribution, not only for humans but for all beings on this planet. And then question it some more. If the ideas or uses prove to be beneficial even when asked why three times, we must wholeheartedly pursue them. Stay inspired. Keep inspiring. Quite untrue. Everyone has great ideas, but only a few people act on them.
It is scary to pursue ideas, to venture into uncharted territory where you alone are responsible. That's why indecision has killed more good ideas than failure ever did. One way to overcome the fear is to share the load with a friend and embark on the journey together. Another way is to act as if you already know what the outcome will be. Stay inspired. Keep inspiring. |
